Programs

What will you unearth when you dig through the dirt? Rocks, gemstones, bones, and more!

Children will be provided with their own “dirt” piles that they can sift through. Anything they find, they can take home!

Registration is required, as supplies are limited. Stop in or give us a call at (315) 686-3762 to register. This program will take place on Thursday, August 13th from 3:00-4:00pm.

Create your own dinosaur garden using dinosaur decorations and plants. Think fairy gardens but this time with dinosaurs. You can have your dinosaur attack a gnome village, recreate famous dinosaur movie scenes, or a simple garden with some dinosaur accents. For ages 9+, registration is required. This program will take place on Friday, August 7th from 3:00-4:00pm.

Make cool DIY fossil pendants from coffee grounds and dinosaur toys! This kids craft is great for toddlers, preschoolers, and school aged kids. This program will take place on Friday, July 17th from 3:00-4:00pm. Registration is required, as supplies are limited. 🦖

This summer don’t miss our special story hour program with Mrs. Orvis! Starting Wednesday July 8th from 10:30-11:00am, Mrs. Orvis will read a new story every week followed by a fun craft. Did we mention that all ages are welcome? This is a great way to get the family out of the house and participate in our summer reading program.

Join us on July 20th from 1:00-3:00pm, in making some cross stitch dinosaurs! Multiple patterns will be available, and no experience is needed. We’ll provide the supplies to get started. This program is intended for ages 13+ and registration is required, as supplies are limited. Call us at (315) 686-3762 or stop in to sign up.

Come to a free photo session at the library! We’ve got a special dino-themed backdrop set up in our nonfiction room for families to get their pictures taken. Ms. Ashlie will be taking pictures from 11-1pm. Each family will receive a digital copy of their photo to treasure forever. All ages and families are welcome to attend. Registration is required, as spots are limited. Call us at (315) 686-3762 to reserve a time!

Come and get “prehistoric” with perler beads! Every Friday, starting July 10th-August 14th from 1-3pm. We will have some dinosaur patterns available, or you can create your own design! Ironing the projects will be done by library staff, but parents/guardians are expected to stay as well. Registration is not required for this program.

Local expert Sue Hazelwood will be here to teach us about rocks! Learn interesting facts like “why rocks glow?”
Children will have the chance to examine real specimens up close, and each will take home their very own rock as a keepsake.
This is a free program and will be held in the children’s room of the library on Tuesdays, 1:00-2:00pm. Dates are July 7th & 21st & August 4th & 18th.

Not only is pasta good for eating, but it’s also great for making dinosaurs too! Children can create their own dinosaur skeleton using different shapes of dried pasta. Templates/outlines will be provided, or you can get creative and make a brand-new dinosaur species! Registration is required, for ages 5+

Dinos & Donuts! 🍩🦖

When? Every Saturday, starting July 11th-August 15th from 10:30am – 12:00pm (or when the movie finishes).

Snack on some donuts and coffee while you enjoy a dino flick in the children’s room! We’ll be showing Jurassic Park, The Flintstones, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, The Good Dinosaur, The Land Before Time, & Night at the Museum. All ages are encouraged to attend; parent supervision is required. Come spend your Saturday morning with us!

Veteran Support Group meetings are offered at the library every second and fourth Monday of the month at 12:30 p.m. Veterans are welcome to drop in or contact Mr. Van Deusen in advance. Mr. Van Deusen is available to give further information about the program and can be reached at 315-686-4304 or by email at vandeusenn@aol.com.

Al-Anon Support Group meetings are offered at the library every Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Al-Anon is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. There are no dues or fees in Al-Anon meetings. No appointment necessary!
